The Canadian Association of Art Therapy defines art therapy, writing: "Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate." Art therapy utilizes art as a form of communication, often able to say what we are not yet conscious of or not yet able to put words to. Not only can the process of creating itself be therapeutic and regulating, but the forms one creates can lead one down a path of deep listening to self and gleaning insight.

A session is 60 min and consists of art activities tailored to each client. I will bring you suggestions and invite you to check in with yourself to find the yes or the no to the offering. The amount of talking in each session will vary and fluctuate depending on the client's need, as will the art making.
I often offer activities and practices to mark the beginning and end of a session, encouraging the client to listen to their self in determining which ones are most supportive. It is important to me that the client leaves the session feeling as safe and secure as possible.
No experience necessary!
Every session consists of a combination of talking, mindfulness and embodiment practices, and art-making that varies for every client. I also offer the use of the tarot in sessions. Some may prefer to talk and not to use art materials and that is fine! Every session is different and is built around what that client feels drawn to.
